Daily management

Two persons are occupied with the daily management of Alden Biesen Zomeropera vzw : general manager Martine Cuyvers and artistic director Piet Vansichen.

They can count on the support of the Board of directors, and in particular of president Willy Claes and secretary-treasurer Patrick Bollen.

The daily management of  Zomeropera Over the past 35 years, Martine Cuyvers has gained management experience in different sectors and in different disciplines (audit, finance, communication, project management and general management). She participated in the change management process of the Société Générale de Belgique and its affiliates as a result of the new shareholder Suez (1987-1992) and was amongst others the general manager of Music Hall Group (1998-2004).

She prefers to work in the cultural and event sector on a project basis because of the variety of the contacts and the passionate commitment of everybody involved.

Next to her function as general manager of Alden Biesen Zomeropera (since 2007), she owns and runs Atmos Productions, a consulting/producer company in the cultural and event sector.

The daily management of  Zomeropera The bas Piet Vansichen has become the artistic director of Alden Biesen Zomeropera because of his commitment to make opera more popular amongst those who do not know this important cultural heritage.

Piet is frequently invited to sing in the main opera houses and he participated in different festivals, amongst others the Festival of Flandres, the Gergiev-festival, Muralla de Avila and the Saito Kinen Festival in Japan. Piet directs various choirs and musical ensembles and is lyrical coach. He received the Distinction for Culture from the province of Limburg and the price for exceptional cultural merits from the City of Bilzen.
