Marnik Baert started his career at the Teater Arena in Ghent and was later the permanent scenographer/costume designer at the former NTGent.
At the same time, he worked in various small theatres in Flanders and for the Flemish Opera.
Since 1997, he has also worked as a freelance designer, joining forces with a variety of directors on the opera and musical scene.
L’Italiana in Algeri will be his tenth collaboration with the Summer Opera.
